Upon landing on Ellis Island that morning I was struck with excitement. I was going to go where it wasn’t restored, look at the island as it was or in ruin. It was going to be a fun photography day. When we arrived at the ruins I was hit in the face with emotions that had me just put my camera down and appreciate where I was standing.

The opportunity to stand where my ancestors did once without being restored left me a flood of emotions. However, one rose above the rest that morning.

We lost the sense of wonder & awe these immigrants felt looking at the New York City shores in our fight with each other.

The work presented here takes you through time with only one ask - Be as open to what you see as these people were to taking a big chance for a better life.
